Servitisation in industry 4.0
The major aim of the Servitisation in industry 4.0 project (INSERT) is
to develop the tools and infrastructures necessary to allow companies to
manufacture custom products on industrial lines and for these products
to adapt to the market and its needs.
INSERT's appeal is the major impact it could have on the economic and
industrial fabric. First, because it will directly impact two different
sectors very important to the economy of the Basque Country including industrial
manufacturing and ICT, and second, because it will allow for competition
in equal conditions with other industrial sectors like those in North America
and Germany which compete with the incorporation of new technologies into
their industrial processes, and those in Asia, which compete in terms of
price, all done with a high-quality, local solution.
We are certain that INSERT will allow some of the major companies of the
Basque Country’s ICT industry (Ibermática, Semantic and Sarenet) – with
strong know-how in industrial service provision, data mining with highly
varied sources, and cloud service provision – to connect with companies
that manufacture long-lasting, highly specialised goods with very specific
issues: Alfa and LanMobel, with great need for solutions that adapt to
their needs to be able to provide their clients with personalised service,
in an attempt to turn them into repeat customers. This synergy will foster
both sectors as it will allow us to create a multidisciplinary environment
where both worlds can provide solutions to common problems.
Providing buyers with a comfortable and reliable system that allows them to easily customise the product(s).
Defining, designing and implementing a smart product: A product that knows how to be manufactured (through the customisation process) and that shares this with the machinery on the production line.
Providing a product that continues to provide information to buyers once it has been manufactured.
Carrying out the market analysis to guide the product offering or the services offered based on customising products to the market and opinions shared on social media.
Provided the interface allowing the customer to directly configure their product, get the final price and send that order information to the production chain. Allowed production route and operations information to be deduced with the product definition and the execution formats in various types of machines. Finally, provided production order management and validation thereof prior to sending it to the production chain.
