Distributed computing and interoperability for artificial intelligence in real time at smart factories
The distributed computing and interoperability for artificial intelligence in real time at smart factories project (PILAR) aims to conduct research and development on an interoperable, deterministic and distributed connective computing and artificial intelligence solution for industry.
The PILAR project acts as a platform for “publishing and consuming services”. This innovative development will allow any kind of company, regardless of whether it is an SME o are a large company, to be technologically unfettered by suppliers. Currently, in order to connect an ERP (for a supplier) and an MES (from another provider), the latter must connect to the ERP via API in an arduous process, both in terms of synch time and in terms of reprocessing that can occur during integration.
The PILAR concept, on the other hand, is based on a new technological model in which any company can set up an infrastructure which the supplier accepts and if they do not meet the technological expectations, the company can change suppliers no strings attached and without “added stress and technological disconnect”. Unlike how it is done currently (as indicated above), everything is simpler with PILAR; data can be posted online from the machine/fieldbus layer to be used by the player in need of it. Semantic Systems is specifically working on the Arania use case, contributing all its technological expertise in the following fields of action:
Predicting the mechanical characteristics of the final product, cold rolled strips from ARANIA: resistance, ductility, etc. from production parameters and variables automatically captured by the plant’s sensors (trains, furnaces, etc.); correcting the manufacturing parameters when the final product will not comply with specifications.
Automatically correcting manufacturing parameters, without human intervention, when it is predicted that the characteristics of the final product with not meet specifications.
Standardising signal processing and data collection to facilitate successive plant expansions, changes in production assets and improvements in information management products.
Driving force of TSN technology.
Pilot project tester.
Development of virtual PLC and virtual commissioning solutions.
Mining of data in the PILAR environment, providing it with online self-learning, plug and play rollout, Edge-fogcloud architecture.
PILAR solution demonstrator.
Development of CloudBus and generation of automated learning models.
New digital design methods and new circuits with integrated artificial intelligence.
Connectivity and data exchange with TSN-based control unit. Embedded AI. Distributed control based on virtual PLC and virtual commissioning of industrial equipment control.
Development of rollouts and smart orchestration of data analytics modules in an Edge-Fog-Cloud environment.
The PILAR project is key to accelerating the implementation of 4.0 solutions in the Basque Country’s strategic sectors to enhance competitiveness.
As part of its automation plan for various plants, the Gorlan Group continues the rollout of repcon Factory, this time in the Plastibor factories.
